Whoever is blessed with a house on the ground knows that, when you want to escape the stress and tiring routine of daily life and go spend a few precious moments in your little green corner, the flavour of you tea or coffee is magically enhanced by its charm.
There are plenty of sources that can give you a helping hand when decorating your garden, but your own preference and taste is always the best guide.
However, there are a few rules that you must follow in order to keep your garden nice and vivid for a long time.
Keep in mind the dimensions of ground owned by you, as well as its placement according to the cardinal points, as the direction and duration of the sunlight is probably the most important aspect you must take into consideration when arranging the elements. If the sun burns too much during the entire day, or if your yard is mostly in the sadow, that will oblige you to adjust and make the environment more comfortable with later additions.
The central alley can be of concrete, wood, sward, blocks of marble, limestone or any other rock, or simply an alignment of pebbles, it all depends on the dominant colours on the background and the amount of precipitations in your area (if it’s mostly rainy in your area, you surely do not want to clean the mud off your soles, just like you don’t want them burned by the high temperatures of black pavement, if you want to walk barefoot during summer days, for instance).
Also, the most poignant items representing the vegetation you chose are, of course, the trees and bushes. Again, the particularities of your area and the natural environment represent the main criterion when it comes to choosing the categories and sorts that fit the most. Remember that trees and all vegetation represent a tremendously important part of the great diversity of life forms that inhabit our planet and they must be treated with respect and cared for. But that is a wider subject which needs to be developed more thoroughly in a separate field, as it requires the opinion of a specialist.
Flowers are the salt and pepper of the garden and their beauty gives the advantage that there is no rule when it comes to finding the best approach when planting them, as there is no ”best approach”.
Parallel to the part reserved to Mother Nature, there comes your direct involvement: the little tones that give your garden its own personality.
Such things can be a bench that inspires a sense of cosiness, rest or protection; several pillars placed in strategic parts; a lake with, or without a waterfall, maybe with some lillies floating; different lighting devices that will add to the mistery and the picturesque of the atmosphere. For instance, the discrete lights of lanterns can give your garden a romantic and antique aura, just perfect for relaxation and pleasing moments, whether you’re by yourself, of with a person close to your heart.
It’s important to not make it look too sharply arranged, or if you can’t help it, make sure you pretend to live a “random” plate. This particular side of your home is the only place a where Nature is a full sovereign and too much order and precision doesn’t make sense in the picture.
