"Art Deco, or Deco, also known as Style Moderne, is a style of visual arts, architecture and design that first appeared in France just before World War I. It became popular in the 1920s and 1930s, and influenced the design of buildings, furniture, cars, movie theaters, trains, ocean liners. It took its name, short for Arts Décoratifs, from the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes (International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts) held in Paris in 1925. Unlike the preceding Art Nouveau style, Art Deco features geometric shapes, clear and precise lines, and decoration which is attached to the structure, often in the form of metal or ceramic sculptures. It combined modernist styles with fine craftsmanship and rich materials"as mentioned by Wikipedia.
Art Deco style is controversial.
On the one hand, it is the symbol of luxury, on the other hand - of practicality.
On the one hand it is based on a rigorous mathematical calculation, on the other hand it is characterized by an elegant and sumptuous décor.
Usually and white outlines bright spots of red and gold catch life on a black background.
Art Deco is a bourgeois home style, but lately it has become very popular. The practical side if it resides in the fact that very often, the most common feature for the roof is a black, glossy ceiling. It is very reliable and can save you against any accidental floods coming from your neighbor’s, so you will not face trouble with the damaging of your furniture, walls and floors etc.
Also, a thin film has been applied over the ceiling, in order to create the reflection from the bottom of the top cap. Thus, we have achieved an obvious effect of increased kitchen space.
On the walls, one side white, the other side black, floral ornaments were used – also in black and white, to create a contrast; they have been applied using stencils's, the very essence of the interior decoration chosen style.
For the floor, a laminate black and white checkerboard pattern is proven suitable, and this detail emphasizes classic Art Deco style.
The whole kitchen looks like a room from the palace of a queen, where the contrast between black and white and the objects in shades of gray in fine reflexes dominates the surrounding.
Despite the magnificence and elegance, this type of decoration is acceptable for any pocket.
We will let you to decide whether the project was a success and if you’d try for yourselves.
